Words of the Chairman of the Ashdod Foundation

The Ashdod Foundation was established in 1984 during my tenure as mayor. The goal of the foundation is to promote the development of the city through projects aimed at enhancing the welfare of the residents in the fields of culture, art, education, and welfare.

Ashdod, a young Mediterranean city, was founded by immigrants and currently houses about 250,000 residents from 99 different communities and diaspora groups. The city serves as a national strategic hub with two ports, an electric company, refineries, and industrial production plants such as the aerospace industry (Elta).

In cooperation with the Ashdod Municipality, the foundation has advanced key projects for the benefit of the residents, including the establishment of the Corinne Mamane Museum of Philistine Culture, a unique museum in Israel and the world on this topic. In addition, the foundation has been raising scholarships for outstanding young artists and students in need of support for many years.

Recently, the foundation assisted in the establishment of a Veterans’ Home and the construction of kindergartens, especially for children with special needs. It also played a role in the establishment of the municipal library, raised resources for the absorption of Ukrainian refugees, and supported security needs as required by current circumstances.

Together with the members of the foundation’s board over the years, we aim to assist the city in advancing programs for accelerated development in the fields of culture, art, education, and welfare. We reach out to all foundations, both domestic and international, public and private entities, to be active partners in the development efforts of the city of Ashdod.

On this website, you will find programs for projects in which the foundation is a partner with the Ashdod Municipality.

We welcome any assistance or contribution to advancing these significant and important projects.

Sincerely,
Dr. Arieh Azoulay
Deputy Chairman and Acting
